First Step In Event and Wedding Planning
First, think about what is it you want to say at your event. Then get a scrapbook or even a notebook and start compiling your ideas by cutting out pictures from magazines or books that interest you or print them from online. Magazines and books are a great way to get inspiration! My favorite magazines are Real Simple, and Philadelphia Magazine; and my favorite websites are Trendhunter.com and thecoolhunter.com, which gives me great ideas. After a few pages in your portfolio, you will start to see a pattern develop of colors themes, and foods that you favor.
Second, figure out the day, time, and location for your event. Then start a preliminary guest list and estimate guest count. The number of guests will shape everything from budget to location. This may be an obvious point, but remember, the more guests, the more you have to put away in your budget. An increased guest count increases the costs for invitations, flowers, food, drink, location and etcetera.
Third, decide on the formality of your event or wedding. Would you prefer an evening affair or morning? Would you prefer an afternoon tea or entire weekend? Think about these questions when deciding your event style.
In addition, if you are planning a wedding, then you need to think about registries. One great new idea is the Honeymoon Registry, where you can actually register for portions of your dream honeymoon trip!
Finally, hire a wedding/event planner. Planning a wedding can be stressful, time-consuming and expensive! Therefore, to make sure your wedding or event is as successful as your hopes and dreams, hire a professional to plan and execute your plans to ensure success and eliminate stress!
